CAREFLOX (Ofloxacin 200mg)

CAREFLOX (Ofloxacin 200mg)

Careflox is a synthetic broadspectrum antibacterial agent belonging to the fluoroquinolone group. The mechanism of action of Ofloxacin involves inhibition of bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase (both of which are type II topoisomerases), enzymes required for DNA replication, transcription, repair and recombination.
Careflox ensures:
  • Outstanding efficacy against Chlamydia – potent in P.I.D.
  • Highly bioavailable and deeply penetrated into various tissues.
  • The combination of rifampin administered orally plus careflox is a suitable alternative to the conventional long-term intravenous therapy for treatment of orthopedic implants infected with staphylococci.
  • Careflox is as effective as intravenous cefotaxime in uncomplicated spontaneous bacterial peritonitis. Nonazotemic cirrhotic patients with uncomplicated community-acquired spontaneous bacterial peritonitis and without hepatic encephalopathy have an excellent prognosis and may be treated with Careflox without requiring hospitalization.
  • Careflox is useful in the treatment of patients of lungs tuberculosis.
  • MDR-TB patients can be treated effectively with careflox.
  • Safe and effective alternative of ciprofloxacin againt anthrax.
  • Shows minimal interactions with drugs like theophyllin, cyclosporins and warfarin.
  • Effectively treat pneumonia and bronchitis caused by Haemophilus influenzae and Streptococcus pneumonia.
  • Most active quinolone against Chlamydia trachomatis.
  • Drug of choice for acute bacterial diarrhea.
  • FDA approved for the treatment of RTI, UTI, SSTI & pelvic inflammatory disease.
  • Standard antimicrobial therapy for treatment of community-acquired pneumonia.
  •  Better absorbed than Ciprofloxacin & Norfloxacin.
  • Exhibits high tissue concentration, Intracellular concentration, adequate level in bile & faeces.
  • Extraordinary activity against Gram-positive, Gram-negative & atypical pathogens.
INDICATIONS:
  • Respiratory tract infections like lung abscess, aspiration pneumonia, empyema and bronchiectasis
  • ENT infections like chronic sinusitis, chronic suppurative otitis media,
